RACHEL KENNEY

About Me

Hi! I graduated from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University (formerly known as the Yale School of Drama) with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting. I also got my BA in Theatre (Acting) and Film & TV Studies from Northwestern University. I’m a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, and a proud native of Cleveland, Ohio.

My sweet-spot is playing characters that are smart and strong, but whose strength masks a deep pain and vulnerability–you know, women on the edge who are a bit messed up and just barely holding it together. I’m a bit like if you crossed a young Laura Linney or Jodi Foster with Kate McKinnon. Think Amy Adams doing both Sharp Objects and Enchanted. Some examples of the type of roles I’d love to play are Blanche DuBois, Daenerys Targaryen, Dolores from Westworld, or any of the wacky weirdos developed by Kate McKinnon or Kristen Wiig on SNL.

Some random fun facts about me:

I don’t really like chocolate. I know! Bizarre! I was a World Championship-level competitive Irish Dancer for 17 years. Yes, really! I was also once the National Champion in Prose Interpretation (Speech & Debate) for my rendition of a portion of Katharine Hepburn’s autobiography. It’s one of my absolute top life goals to play Katharine Hepburn in a biopic. I once almost got heat stroke while climbing the Great Wall of China as part of an exchange program. In general, I’m a big ol’ nerd, and I know way more than I should about things like Mount Everest, Egyptology, K-Pop, NASA missions, and the Titanic. I love roller coasters, velociraptors, and making cocktails, and I’m saving up money for my first tattoo. How are all those things related? No idea! But hopefully that gives you a (semi-chaotic?) sense of who I am and what excites me!

You can learn more about my previous roles and work history by checking out my resume here, or you can check out my IMDB profile here.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know a bit more about me!

–xx, Rachel
