Philosophy

Dialects can be one of the most fascinating (and fun) ways to discover nuances about the story and character you're working on. I’m is passionate about ensuring that learning a dialect isn't just about making the correct sounds, but also about exploring ways dialects can affect your emotions, physical bearing, and thought processes, eventually informing your character work.

I teach the following dialects and accents for actors:

• Irish (Dublin, Galway/West Coast, and Belfast/Northern)

• English (RP/Upper Class, Yorkshire, and Cockney)

• Scottish

• French

• German

• Russian

• South Indian

• New Zealand

• Minnesota/American Midwest

• American Southern (Atlanta/Antebellum/Refined and Texas/West Virginia/Rural)

• “Neutral”/“News Anchor” American (aka a generic white American accent)

Accent Reduction Services for non-actors

I also provide ongoing coaching on a case-by-case basis for folks who are looking to reduce whatever natural accent or dialect they have. This type of coaching can be much more complicated and in-depth than learning an accent for acting purposes, so please contact me directly and I’ll let you know whether or not I think I’m able to accommodate your specific goals. 

Pricing & What to Expect

Coaching sessions cost $100 for an hour, or $160 for two hours. I offer highly customized coaching sessions to help you achieve your specific goals. I will guide you through the basics of the dialect’s characteristic sounds, help you mark out pronunciation changes in your script, give you individualized feedback and personalized exercises to help you master the sounds that are hardest for you, and give you practice packets to keep you on track once your session is over. Select discounts are available for long-term, ongoing students. Both in-person and Zoom/Skype sessions are available.
